Almost 30 years ago I did a spell as a contract speechwriter with an Ontario Government Ministry.
After I had written my first speech for the minister, I had a visit from his executive assistant. She had a reputation for being rough on staff members who were not part of the “political” machinery, so I was expecting the worst.
To my surprise, she said both she and the minister quite liked the speech. There was only one problem: it was much too clear. I promised myself then that one day I would have a corporate communication practice called Clarity.
